LAST CHANCE: JANUARY 31 DEADLINE FOR COVERED CALIFORNIA

Nine of 10 of Uninsured May Qualify for Financial Assistance and Avoid Paying $650 tax

AltaMed Enrollment Center Offers Bilingual Assistance in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, CA – The deadline for signing up for health insurance under Covered California is fast approaching, with Sunday, January 31 as the last day to sign up and avoid paying the federal tax.

It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of southern Californians remain uninsured and of those, nine out of 10 may qualify for state and federal financial assistance to help cover the cost of their health care coverage. Those uninsured will face a tax penalty of $695 this year.

To help consumers understand their plan options – such as Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum – offered by various health plans, AltaMed Health Services, the largest Covered California enroller in the state, will provide free enrollment assistance this week in Santa Ana to help individuals meet the Covered California January 31 deadline.
AltaMed’s Health Insurance Resource Center will be open all week to help assist those looking to sign up for health care coverage.

In addition, AltaMed will hold special open enrollment events on Saturday, January 30, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 31, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the AltaMed Health Insurance Resource Center, 2720 Bristol St., Santa Ana, CA 92704. Bilingual Certified enrollment experts are available to discuss how Obamacare tax penalties will affect 2015 tax filings. The public can call 888-363-1293 to get more information.
