Irvine police officers responded to a sober living facility in a residential area near Tyler Place and Boulder Creek Way, located near the intersection of Jamboree Road and Portola Parkway, after receiving a report of a stabbing at around 6 a.m., according to the Irvine Police Department.
The responding police officers found an 18-year-old man was found seriously injured. He was suffering from blunt force trauma. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Irvine Detectives identified the suspect as Braxton Hill, a 24-year-old man.
Hill fled the scene in Irvine in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. At approximately 8:49 a.m., Irvine Detectives located Hill in a vehicle in the area of the 15 Freeway at Hodge Road, in the Apple Valley. The vehicle was stopped with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol. Hill was arrested for suspicion of homicide and will be booked at Orange County Jail.
He was arrested with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
The suspect and victim both lived at the sober living facility and may have been roommates. A motive for the crime has not yet been divulged by the Irvine Police Department.
