IRVINE, Calif. (April 8, 2024) – An Irvine woman will sign copies of her book “‘Star Wars’ Is Still Intact: Re-finding Yourself in the Age of Trump” at the Irvine Barnes & Noble store located at 728 Spectrum Center Dr. in Irvine at 3 p.m. this Sunday.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to do the signing and for the books to be sold at the Irvine Spectrum Center B&N,” said Alysha Scarlett, a Medium Book Author, 13-time-award-winning journalist and Upwork Top Rated Plus freelancer. “It’s a lovely, comfortable location and I’m grateful for the help I’ve received from staff.”
The book was published by Thought Catalog Books. (And on the books to be sold at the Irvine B&N, the pen name for Scarlett is “Rhett Wilkinson.”)
Chapters of Scarlett’s 10-chapter book regard topics that include body size, Thanksgiving history and sexuality.
And in another chapter, Scarlett comes to the defense of journalists.
The chapter is titled “When you realize that the president of the United States would be cool with assaulting you.”
“Donald Trump has made me afraid as much as at any point … when he tweeted a video of him attacking a person with a CNN logo superimposed over the individual’s head. And that it was his most re-tweeted tweet at least at the time,” Scarlett wrote. “’He’s going to get a reporter killed,’ I said out loud, considering what the promotion of violence could incite.”
Another chapter is about the great journey of escaping a cult (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon church).
“I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone who leaves the church needs therapy for some extent of time,” she said.
Shortly after leaving the cult, Scarlett faced several challenges. A nurse practitioner noted that Scarlett still wasn’t “dealing” and “stealing,” he said.
The challenges caused Scarlett to consider things she may not have alternatively.
Those ordeals started July 12, 2015. That’s when Scarlett’s identity and worldview shattered all at once. And not long after, her mother abused her.
After that, Scarlett was “railroaded” and “shellacked” by a Utah County judge, as a lawyer said. And she was “put in the doghouse” by the judge, as three other lawyers said.
However, Scarlett persisted. And it came over a unique course of time in America. Donald Trump won the United States electoral college count. That caused a major inquiry of institutions. And “Star Wars” came back to the silver screen.
“It was a remarkable time to face major challenges,” Scarlett said.
