Investigators Seeking Public’s Assistance Identifying Hit and Run Suspect Vehicle
STANTON, Calif. – (May 8, 2014) – On Wednesday, April 23, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian victim was struck by the vehicle as he crossed the street near the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard in the city of Stanton. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid at the scene and fled westbound on Chapman Avenue.
The 24 year-old male victim was critically injured as a result of the collision and remains hospitalized in the burn unit recovering from his injuries. He suffered burns and abrasions to over 20 percent of his body and a severe laceration to his head requiring 38 staples.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a bright, teal metallic (blue/green) 1993-1996 GMC single cab pick-up truck. The vehicle has front end damage as a result of the collision and a sticker(s) attached to the left side of the rear cab window (see photos below). There is no suspect information.
Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance identifying the vehicle in the video. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Orange County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Bureau Investigators at (949) 425-1864.
