Case # TBA

Date: February 23, 2015

GIRLFRIEND TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR STABBING-MURDER OF BOYFRIEND IN THEIR HOME

SANTA ANA – A girlfriend is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for stabbing and murdering her boyfriend in their home. Michele Lynn Green, 50, Laguna Niguel, was charged today with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. The People will be requesting Green be held on $1 million bail at her arraignment tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1. Central Jail, Santa Ana.

At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2015, Green and her 52-year-old boyfriend Richard Begley got into a dispute at their Laguna Niguel home. At some point during the confrontation, the defendant is accused of obtaining a knife and murdering the victim by stabbing him in the upper chest or shoulder area. A nearby resident saw the victim outside his home and contacted a family member who then called 911. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim dead in the front lawn of a neighbor’s home.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department, who investigated this case, arrested the defendant at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released about this case at this time.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Mike Murray of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
