Free Las Posadas event at the Bowers Museum set for Dec. 21

The Bowers Museum is  hosting a special free holiday event – Las Posadas, on Saturday, December 21, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at their North Parking Lot.

Las Posadas is a traditional Mexican Christmas Celebration re-enacting Mary and Joseph’s journey as they seek shelter in Bethlehem. This event will feature traditional music, dance and food and live entertainment by the Guitar ensemble of OCCTAC (Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center) and Cantamerica. Enjoy traditional Mexican hot chocolate and pan dulce (sweet bread).

Mexican dress is encouraged. Museum and Gallery Store will be closed. This event is sponsored by The James Irvine Foundation.

The Bowers Museum is located at 2002 North Main Street, in Santa Ana.

FREE DAYS

Thank you to the Target Corporation for making access possible to all visitors on Target Free First Sundays and to the Nicholas Endowment for sponsoring our Family Festivals on the first Sunday of each month. Bowers also offers free general admission to Santa Ana residents, with proof of residency, each Tuesday, through a generous donation in memory of Dorothy Goerl and courtesy of the Lockhart Family.

TARGET FREE FIRST SUNDAYS

Visitors to the Bowers can enjoy free access to the museum, Kidseum, and all activities on the first Sunday of every month, thanks to the Target Corporation. Due to occupancy limits of popular and specially ticketed exhibits, ticket distribution is limited to 1500 tickets per day, 250 per hour on a first-come, first-served basis. All visitors must be present at the time of ticket distribution. Reservations are not accepted.
