Four men were shot at an illegal gambling site in Santa Ana

Santa Ana has had a longtime problem with illegal gambling operations. But one of them became an even bigger problem this Wednesday, Jan. 27, when shooters entered the illegal gambling location and opened fire, according to the SAPD.

Four men were injured in the incident which happened just before 2 in the morning at a building on South Standard Ave., near Edinger Ave. The building once housed an ice cream business but more recently has been functioning as a cyber cafe.

Responding SAPD police officers found two male victims with multiple bullet wounds. They are expected to survive after being conveyed to local hospitals for treatment.

Two additional male victims were driven to local hospitals by non emergency personnel. They too are expected to recover from their bullet wounds.

The SAPD police investigators found many bullet casings inside the illegal gaming operation.

The detectives believe that there were multiple assailants with an assault rifle and a handgun.

The SAPD also found quite a few illegal gaming machines in the establishment. The patrons had mostly fled from the shooting by the time the police arrived.

The SAPD currently has not identified any suspects. They are also unsure as to the motive. It is possible the shooting was gang related.
