Fireworks caused a fire in Garden Grove and the police issued 77 citations during the 4th of July

The Garden Grove Police Department announced the results of their 2021 illegal firework enforcement efforts.

• 77 citations ($1000 fine each) for illegal fireworks
• Of the 77 citations, 64 were officer self-initiated & 9 were dispatched enforcement
• 167 fireworks calls for service (#July4th)
• 245 total fireworks calls for service from July 1-July 5
• No enforcement issues at sanctioned block parties

These stats do not reflect officers being rerouted to a few large incidents, one of which included a fire on Norma St.
