Firefighters rescued a man who was dangling outside the 7th floor of the Santa Ana Federal ICE building

Orange County firefighters conducted a daring rescue this morning of a worker who was stranded from a rope on the 7th floor of a 9 story building, according to the OCFA.

The firefighters were able to stage a rescue from the roof of the building. They lowered a firefighter down to the dangling worker and then lowered him safely to the ground below.

The 48-year-old man, who was repairing concrete on the side of the U.S. Immigration, Customs and Enforcement building on Santa Ana Boulevard at Parton Street, was lowering himself down, along with a co-worker, when his safety line got stuck at the seventh floor, according to the O.C. Register.

Apparently the engine on the worker’s scaffolding then broke and sent it to the ground. The man was locked in place by his safety harness while waiting for help, as reported by ABC.
