Last night, OCFA firefighters rushed to the scene, where they found a fire in a bedroom about to extend to the rest of the house, in Santa Ana.
The call came in at 9:41 and was in the 700 block of S. Gates.
The fire crews did a great job rapidly extinguishing the blaze, saving the rest of the home.
One individual was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Most home fires and fire casualties resulted from one of five causes: cooking, heating equipment, electrical distribution and lighting equipment, intentional fire setting, and smoking materials, according to the NFPA. The two leading items in home fire deaths were upholstered furniture and mattresses or bedding, consistent with the leading areas of origin associated with fire deaths, living rooms and bedrooms. Fires in the living room were more likely to cause death than fires in other areas.
