“Families w/o Borders” presentation at Reclaiming Democracy set for 4/12

Reclaiming Democracy’s monthly gathering will feature a presentation by the OC May Day Coalition on Saturday, April 12 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, at the Irvine Ranch Water District, located at 15600 Sand Canyon Ave., in Irvine.

“Families w/o Borders: Human Rights, not Broken Ties” is the Coalition’s campaign which coincides with the annual May 1st May Day March. Come hear about the struggle to stop collaboration between local police and federal immigration. Learn about the struggles of undocumented families, day laborers and undocumented students in Orange County.

The Orange County May Day Coalition is a community-centered coalition of organizations and individuals; member organizations include:

Chic@nas Unidos, El Centro Cultural de México, OC DREAM Team, OC Peace Coalition, Occupy Santa Ana, SEIU-USWW, OCIWW, and Tonantzin Collective

In 2011, the Coalition worked tirelessly to win a more just impound policy in Santa Ana, California. The issue of unjust towing became a battleground when cities such as Maywood and Montebello seized cars in immigrant communities to raise cash. In Orange County, Santa Ana impounds more cars at state-funded drunk-driving checkpoints than any other police agency.

Currently, OCMDC is working on ending the collaboration between ICE and the SAPD and stop the detention and incarceration of our family and friends.

  • When does the play come out when they show how corrupt and negligent they are to there own people in Mexico ....sounds like families w/o boarders started in Mexico ....

  • "Families without borders" - sounds like families are to be given priority over a sovereign nations borders. That is not going to fly ......

  • "Reclaiming Democracy by the OC May Day Coalition"........... Hmmmmmm

May day is the Communist holiday so how can it reclaim the Democracy?

    These Mexicans are sooooo stupid.

This issue will be not resolved until the Mexicans declare San Diego a part of the Mexico based on the 25 M Mexican population same as Russians declared yesterday Ukraine border city Luhansk, based-on the Majority Russian population, a part of the Russia.

And lets not forget 1939 annexation of the Czechoslovakian Sudetenland. When it all ended by 2M Germans were brutally evacuated to Germany from the Czechoslovakia where they belonged.
