Orange County’s first Dutch Bros. Coffee location has opened at the northeast corner of Magnolia and Talbert, at 17954 Magnolia St., in Fountain Valley. This the first of two locations planned for the region. The second location is expected to open in La Habra.
Their grand opening today was a huge hit with a two hour wait that continued to this afternoon and evening.
Dutch Bros. Coffee features brews as the Caramelizer, featuring espresso, chocolate milk, caramel sauce and whipped cream; the Double Torture, a double shot of espresso laced with vanilla syrup, chocolate milk and whipped cream; or the 9-1-1 that features a staggering six shots of espresso with Irish cream syrup and half and half, according to the O.C. Register.
In addition to its expansive menu, Dutch Bro baristas, known as “bro-istas,” are known for their friendly disposition. In the past, employees have remembered customers’ preferences, inquired about family members and even gave out free drinks to customers going through a difficult situation, according to KTLA.
Dutch Bros was founded on February 12, 1992, by Dane and Travis Boersma, brothers of Dutch descent, in Grants Pass, Oregon. They started in 1992 as a pushcart in downtown Grants Pass next to the post office and close to the Rogue River, which cuts through the town of 35,000. Before leaving Southern Oregon State College after his sophomore year, Boersma developed a taste for the mochas from the school’s espresso cart.
Dutch Bros is committed to using only beans that have been responsibly sourced from farms in Brazil, Columbia, and El Salvador, according to Mashed.
Dutch Bros is also expected to earn $1 billion in revenue on a trailing 12-month basis in late 2023 and surpass 1,000 restaurants by 2025, according to QSR.
The Fountain Valley Planning Commission is also considering a second Dutch Bros. location at the Floor and Décor center (off Warner and the 405 Fwy).
