Costa Mesa Police Department
Advisory: Friday’s DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint has been cancelled
When we conduct DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints, which are funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), we are required to give the community a heads up and it is our protocol to do so.
That is why yesterday we released the info about Friday’s planned checkpoint.
The officer that assisted in coordinating the DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints was Officer Oscar Reyes. Late last night, the PD reported on their social media channels that Officer Reyes passed away suddenly. Police Chief Rob Sharpnack’s message about the passing of Officer Reyes can be found on our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
In light of this sad news, CMPD is cancelling the DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint that was planned for Friday.
Thank you for your understanding,
CMPD
