DTSA’s image wrecked as the Crosby murder story goes global

In a blog post, titled: ‘These Are the 7 Biggest Fears That You Need To Avoid Having  In Your Twenties’ on the website Elite Daily, Kim Pham called on people her  age to stop being fearful, according to the Daily Mail, a newspaper in London.

But that was written before she was beaten into a coma while the 23-year old graduate of Chapman University was waiting to enter the hipster bar/restaurant called The Crosby, last Friday night.

Santa Ana landlord Irv Chase and his pals gathered up $5K from under their sofa cushions as a reward for tips about who murdered Pham, but the reality is that Chase and company will now have to spend $5 million to restore the reputation of Downtown Santa Ana.  The murder of Pham has gone worldwide.

Don’t believe me?  Just do a Google search of Pham’s name.  You will see that the story has been run all over the United States, Europe and Asia.  Now do a Google search of “Downtown Santa Ana.”  No mention of the artists village or the alleged clean-up of the Downtown by Chase and his merry hipsters.  Instead the search result is a slew of articles about Pham’s murder.  Try searching for “The Crosby, Santa Ana” and the results are the same.

There is no putting this mess back in Pandora’s box.  Downtown Santa Ana’s image has been permanently wrecked, in one fell swoop, by five murderous bar patrons.

The party is over at The Crosby

I don’t see how The Crosby will be able to reopen.  They may have to change their name.  Their brand will now forever be associated with the brutal murder of a beautiful young woman from Westminster.

Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez represents Downtown Santa Ana.  She is up for re-election this November.  Good luck with that.  And what about Councilman David Benavides?  Just a few months ago that guy was pushing to keep bars open until 4 am!  Santa Ana Planning Commissioner Phil Bacerra is still pushing for that and he is running around town, allegedly, telling everyone that everything is going to be OK.  No it’s not Phil!  Not for Chase and the other gentrifiers.

It is time for the people of Santa Ana to take back this city and this Downtown.  The bar culture has been exposed for what it is – a hot mess.  And if you think folks are just going to return to how things were before Pham’s murder, think again.  That ship has sailed.

    • ...and all our wishes for an awesome downtown are coming true! Don't like it, get the hell out. Can't wait for the new changes in the Santora! It's going to be so much better.

        • You know it. Hey, do you know if the white paint on the Santora's basement walls is called, 'off white' or 'eggshell?'

      • I heard they are going to EXECISE Claudia Alvarez, burn her and mold her ashes into a gigantic c*ck. Then Ryan Chase is going to deep throat it and swap the load with the new owner. NOW THAT'S ART!

Sorry, I know this is a family blog, but, I felt I owed Mateo something!

Anonymous, Why does anything remotely critical mean the demise of DTSA to you guys? Be truthful, there are REAL challenges, that were missed in the scheme. Fix em and be honest, instead you sound like assholes, hell bent on putting in another Applebee's, which is all Chapter One is really.

  • Goes global. Right. You know that people living in Montana, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Utah, South Dakota, etc. haven't heard anything and don't care. Gone global? You really are reaching and not just inside your zipper as you write these stupid Weekly World News phony posts.

  • Nobody in this country has heard about it this. Most of my Los Angelians don't know about it. You can blame mainstream national news for this. I don't understand why this violence is never reported by CNN, ever. This story has received more global attention than it has in our own country. It really speaks to that state of things here.

And sadly, theres a good chance the perpetrators of this crime have a safe haven with family in Mexico and are already there.

  • Well, I don't know about GLOBAL, but, the politico's are scrambling for cover/attention.

Did you see that asshole Correa try and grandstand last night " We pray for a speedy recovery"..........."Uh wait. she's dead???" What a tool. Then to hear Benavides more concerned with the "track record" then the murder, was brilliant.

But, my favorite CLOWNCIL member is becoming Vince, the Millionare lawyer, who owns more real estate than the entire council COMBINED. This is a guy who went to FOOTHILL HS in Tustin because his mother didn't want him mixing with Santa Ana kids. This guy needs to grow a set and stand for something,

  • F*ck that! Down town SA is still poppin!! Jst cuzz 5 people are f*cking idiots doesn't mean everybody in SA is!! 1 incident shouldn't outweigh all the good DTSA has to offer.. #ripkimpham

  • Really Someone dies and it's only been a few days and you guys are talking about the city's reputation very insensitive , It's almost disgusting

    • Nice try but no cigar. Why don't you ask Google to stop returning those search results and let me know how that works out for you.

What I find disgusting is the gentrifiers who are blaming Pham for what happened. And the bar patrons who took pictures while Pham was beat to death.

    • Renee,

The trouble is YOUR insensitive post. Some commenters here have been concerned about the growing violence and inundation of bars and adult establishments downtown.

How dare you NOW try and defend the councils practice of establishing a WAR ZONE. Booze, Booze and more Booze, testosterone provoking thumping music and twenty year old men and HUNDREDS of single moms on "their" night out.

It's no surprise that the assailant is a single mom, who's FIVE year old son was at home while she was KICKING to death a bright young scholar.

This is the Downtown Pablo David Benavides promotes, with other young, single moms. These folks (like the "Mother" from Payan-Mex, who leaves here kid alone each morning so she can "work it" with Pablo) need to get some priorities, visit reality and understand you DON'T BEAT PEOPLE TO DEATH because they are different.

Very insensitive is the council NOT providing leadership. Insensitive is Senator Lou Correa SHAMELESSLY exploiting Phams death for a few Asian votes.

Time for REAL district elections in Santa Ana.
