DTSA’s image wrecked as the Crosby murder story goes global

In a blog post, titled: ‘These Are the 7 Biggest Fears That You Need To Avoid Having  In Your Twenties’ on the website Elite Daily, Kim Pham called on people her  age to stop being fearful, according to the Daily Mail, a newspaper in London.

But that was written before she was beaten into a coma while the 23-year old graduate of Chapman University was waiting to enter the hipster bar/restaurant called The Crosby, last Friday night.

Santa Ana landlord Irv Chase and his pals gathered up $5K from under their sofa cushions as a reward for tips about who murdered Pham, but the reality is that Chase and company will now have to spend $5 million to restore the reputation of Downtown Santa Ana.  The murder of Pham has gone worldwide.

Don’t believe me?  Just do a Google search of Pham’s name.  You will see that the story has been run all over the United States, Europe and Asia.  Now do a Google search of “Downtown Santa Ana.”  No mention of the artists village or the alleged clean-up of the Downtown by Chase and his merry hipsters.  Instead the search result is a slew of articles about Pham’s murder.  Try searching for “The Crosby, Santa Ana” and the results are the same.

There is no putting this mess back in Pandora’s box.  Downtown Santa Ana’s image has been permanently wrecked, in one fell swoop, by five murderous bar patrons.

The party is over at The Crosby

I don’t see how The Crosby will be able to reopen.  They may have to change their name.  Their brand will now forever be associated with the brutal murder of a beautiful young woman from Westminster.

Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez represents Downtown Santa Ana.  She is up for re-election this November.  Good luck with that.  And what about Councilman David Benavides?  Just a few months ago that guy was pushing to keep bars open until 4 am!  Santa Ana Planning Commissioner Phil Bacerra is still pushing for that and he is running around town, allegedly, telling everyone that everything is going to be OK.  No it’s not Phil!  Not for Chase and the other gentrifiers.

It is time for the people of Santa Ana to take back this city and this Downtown.  The bar culture has been exposed for what it is – a hot mess.  And if you think folks are just going to return to how things were before Pham’s murder, think again.  That ship has sailed.

  • This article is a complete one sided joke. This murder was a terrible incident, yes, but it's not like it's permanently etched in the architecture of DTSA. WWII happened, and everytime one thinks of Europe or Russia, one is not automatically like, "OMG the Axis of Evil, OMG the Allies, OMG War." Shit happens, and yes, this was tragic, but as is the human condition, we try to learn from the terrible experiences we undergo and attempt to create better environments and rouse more awareness so that incidents like these can stop happening.

    • The point is that when you search for terms like Downtown Santa Ana all you get now is links to articles about the murder of Pham by bar patrons in front of the Crosby. Image wrecked.

  • Things will go back to normal in a couple weeks. Everyone will get over the news media and rumors and move on. Things happen all the time and the businesses will not shut down for something that happened in a public street. This didn't happen inside the Crosby so people need to stop finding people to blame. Why hasn't anyone said anything about the friends why did they not interfere when they saw their so called (FRIEND) getting beat. Now the first thing the family does is get an attorney... that didn't take long...

    • I agree.

As soon as people forget a woman was KICKED TO DEATH, HER HEAD STOMPED ON, until she died, things will be cool.

In fact, the Crosby will offer some drink specials, a FIREBALL shot for a buck extra, more loud obnoxious window rattling DJ music ( do these guys have day jobs?) and moreover, fat, unfit eight dollar an hour security guards who for an extra $20 or the right "bud".

There is a wide spread problem in Downtown Santa Ana with young people high, drunk and out of control. Who is going to address this?

  • I searched and u get the news links that are always on top. Other than that everything looks good. We will be ok DTSA. One incident is not gonna destroy all the positive that has came out of it. And this has most definitely not gone global not by a long shot. This is local news orange county, some LA, and some riverside. Not even All SoCal.. People in Nor Cal haven't even heard of this. Whoever wrote this article should get fired.

  • That site picks up news from all over the internet. That doesn't mean its gone global it will have gone global when CNN and BBC are reporting it. Like i said in my previous post not even the northern part of our beautiful state of California has heard of this. Its because of writers like you that people are always misguided. Step up your game son.

  • How about you gather up all your useless resources and prove to everyone here how many foreign news papers printed the story or how many foreign news stations reported this incident on their broadcast. Stop relying on internet sites that gather information about whats trending to call this a global incident.

  • to begin fights are never one sided. also why haven't witness statement been reported countless times. her life and job keeps coming up on everything what she did and what not. but what about the witness statements that the media keeps ignoring like that Kim was with at least a dozen of her friends in line and when the fighting started its was about 12 vs 5. you mean to tell me the 5 people over powered 12 individuals plus the 1 or 2 security guards that were there! what were her friends doing video taping the incident instead of helping their friend? with friends like that she wouldn't need enemies. Yes at the end of the day Kim died for being in an altercation were eye witnesses say she threw punches first. so once again this is never a one sided story like the media is trying to claim. but the day in court will come were the truth will come out.

    P.S
there has been more than a few incidents were Latino's have been killed by asian people so that race card kims followers keep playing is getting old.

  • Loooools this made me laugh!
So you're saying "yeah no more popular bars in dtsa to bring a shiet ton of people, patrons, food, money, and jobs to dtsa."
    Great plan

    • There are VERY clearly this incident proved that underpaid, poorly trained "doorman" dressed in a windbreaker marked SECURITY is not up to the $8.25 per hour the Crosby paid him.

I say NO MORE bars, leave the people at home. Most of these people should be at home caring for their bastard kids, instead of searching for new Papi's.

      That is the reality anon.
