Late Friday night, a police officer driving on Harbor Boulevard saw a vehicle exit the parking lot of a nearby pub and drive north on the southbound lane, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The officer quickly made a traffic stop and contacted the driver, who had two previous DUI convictions and is currently on DUI probation.
The officer observed signs of alcohol intoxication and conducted a field sobriety test. No surprise, the wrong-way driver was arrested for DUI, yet again.
This short story could have gone on and ended differently had it not been for the CMPD officers who handled this arrest. Their quick action to take a drunken driver off the roads before he drove away from the pub likely saved lives that night. Great work by the AM shift!
