Driver arrested for allegedly running over a Santa Ana pedestrian repeatedly

A driver was arrested on Wednesday by the SAPD for allegedly running over a pedestrian several times, according to CBS.

The incident happened just past 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. SAPD detectives realized it was more than a hit-and-run collision when they saw on security video footage that the victim had been chased by the suspect a block away.

The officers saw on video that the pedestrian was walking through a residential area when the suspect tried to run him over and the victim resorted to running away.

But the victim, a 32-year-old man, was not in the clear yet. The suspect kept chasing him and eventually followed him into a parking lot where he ran the man over more than once.

The victim had what the police referred to as “”The victim had “significant injuries to his head.” He was immediately taken to an emergency hospital.

Police investigators do not know why the suspect attacked the victim nor do they know if the two have any sort of connection.

The SAPD police detectives believe the attack may have been some type of road rage.

SAPD police officers found a black Honda Accord with significant front-end damage about two blocks away from the crash site on Wednesday morning.

The officers then staked out the car with the hopes of detaining the driver. However the suspect took note of the officers resulting in a brief standoff.

The police officers were eventually able to arrest the suspect and they impounded his car.

The suspect is expected to be charged with attempted murder, according to the SAPD.

The victim, who was not identified by the SAPD, is still in serious condition.
