Downtown Santa Ana Partners with CSP to Increase Community Safety
Local Businesses Launch TIPS Training to Educate About Responsible Alcohol Sales
[Santa Ana, CA] – CSP, an organization funded by the County of Orange Health Care Agency, and the Downtown Santa Ana Restaurant Association have joined together to create a safer, more responsible environment for residents, visitors and customers by offering TIPS training and educational courses to local restaurant and bar staff.
Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) provides business owners and staff with the knowledge and tools to safely identify, manage and prevent intoxication, under-age drinking and drunk driving through a series of courses. Downtown Santa Ana restaurant and bar employees responsible for the sale of alcohol now have opportunity to undergo training to gain the proper insight to acknowledge and intervene in any potential alcohol-related problems in future.
“Selling alcoholic beverages is a privilege. With that privilege comes a great deal of responsibility. TIPS training helps our staff responsibly serve alcoholic beverages, recognize potential problems and act to prevent alcohol-related incidents,” commented David Hastie, General Manager of Memphis at the Santora and member of the Downtown Santa Ana Restaurant Association.
Businesses aim to reduce potential liability by educating staff with tactful and proven steps to manage risks while maintaining a positive atmosphere for both employees and customers. Training sessions will take place during the month of February and March asfollows:
Feb. 27, 4:30 – 8:30 pm, Memphis at the Santora
March 7, 10am – 2pm, The Copper Door
March 19, 4:30 – 8:30pm, Memphis at the Santora
Other business owners interested in providing TIPS training for their staff or obtaining more information can contact Fabiola Soto at: fsoto@cspinc.org
