Dental assistant arrested for sexually assaulting two girls at OC Kids Dental

Santa Ana Police Department

Advisory: SAPD Family Crimes Detectives Arrest Dental Assistant For Sexual Assault

Believe There Are Additional Victims

On 9/16/15, Santa Ana Police Department Family Crimes Detectives arrested Tommy Medina for sexually assaulting two girls under 10-years-old while he was employed as a dental assistant. Medina, 25, of Santa Ana, was arrested from his place of employment, OC Kids Dental, 630 S. Main Street, Unit #C, in Santa Ana.

It is alleged Medina, while working as a dental assistant, sexually assaulted two female victims while in a private room at the dental facility. One of the victims was assaulted in 2013 and the other in 2014.

Medina is being charged with 288.7 CPC (Sexual assault Against a Child 10 Years or Younger). He is currently being held at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $1 million.

Medina had access to many children at OC Kids Dental during his four years of employment. This access, as well as his position as a dental assistant, allowed Medina the opportunity to interact with children in a trusting environment. Because of this access and opportunity, detectives believe there may be additional victims.

Parents or guardians of children who received dental services at OC Kids Dental from 2012 – 2015, are encouraged to talk to their children about their interactions with Dental Assistant Tommy Medina. Detectives and child interview specialists are available to speak to children if the parent suspects any inappropriate conduct. To report inappropriate contact with Tommy Medina, please call Santa Ana Police Detectives at (714) 245-8351.
