Councilman Tinajero claims he’s in minority, but he could have broken the tie vote

In response to the “Shame on Santa Ana Teacher/Councilman Sal Tinajero for allowing worker layoffs” post, on our
Facebook link Councilman Tinajero now complains: “What?!? I’m in the minority! I don’t have the votes! Your trying to discredit me because you get paid! I refer you to real reporting i.e. Voice of OC, OC Register, LA Times, or New York Times.” Give me a break!!

As was said in the Facebook thread, the vote was tied (3-3) and Sal could have voted to have staff negotiate to keep the contract with ICE and help protect city jobs and keep $7-$8 million in annual revenue. With his vote, it could have been 4-2! (Embarrassed by his comments and actions, Sal had them deleted overnight, but we took a screenshot before he did!)

This may be too late to fix or not, but if city workers get laid off, they will remember who made an effort to help and who did not. Just sayin…

We don’t think Councilmembers Martinez or Benavides are pubic union workers, but Councilman Tinajero is. Too bad he wants no layoffs for him and his public union workers at SAUSD, but doesn’t care as much for the city workers under his watch at city hall. I’m being told that many SEIU jobs and police union jobs will be lost as a result of Sal’s votes regarding the ICE contract. Both unions have endorsed him in the past.

  • This is a message to all parents be very careful and take good care of your kids because Santa Ana is about to hit the fan. What I mean is what we are experiencing with gangs it's only gonna get worse, gangs are recruiting kids from jr. Highs and high schools yes you might find it funny but it's happening and the wave of violence is only gonna get worse and thanks to these teacher cuts it's not only gonna give other teachers a burden of having big classes and we all know big classes equals no successes I'm still wondering who votes for these idiots in our city council seems like these people "city council" don't care much must be nice when your kids go to private schools and don't have to put up with such problems of public schools. Funny how all these people went to college and graduated and ran for our city but have no clue on how to run this city way to bring back the 80's & 90's idiots que pinche verguenza de mi gente coruptos que puta verguenza

  • THIS IS A BIG SLAP TO THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HIS ASS. I HOPE YOU LEARNED YOUR LESSON WITH THIS BIG BLK GORILLA. EMAIL HIM, CALL HIM AND SHOW HIM HOW MUCH YOU ARE ALL DISAPPOINTED.

    • We don't like that comment but censoring it is not a good solution either. The fellow who made this comment deserves to be derided for it.

  • So please explain how and what Sal is paid for by the SAUSD...

Is he really collecting $100,000 for "consulting".If true,I am certain the community watchdogs like Julio Perez and Greg Diamond will be all over this!!!!

Seriously is FAT Sal pulling down that kind of Dough? I saw FAT Valerie kissing his Ass recently at an event. By FAT, I am not referring to physical weight, just what FAT CAT's these two representitives "of the people" have become.
