State Senator Lou Correa is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Young Senators Program

September 07, 2012 – (SANTA ANA) – State Senator Lou Correa invites high school students in the 34th Senate District to join his Young Senators Program to learn and actively engage in California’s legislative process.

“I have always been committed to helping our young people set goals and reach their dreams,” states Senator Correa.

The program will provide students with a unique opportunity to participate in seminars, town hall meetings and community service activities. They will be able to interact and learn from community leaders and government officials, all while strengthening and expanding their leadership skills. This program is open to any high school student interested in getting involved with their community while learning about the legislative process.

The students accepted into the program will be required to attend monthly seminars beginning in October that are designed to teach them about the rewards of community and public service. All students who complete the Program will be honored among local dignitaries at a Graduation Ceremony in 2012.

Students that successfully complete the Young Senators Program and meet admission requirements at the time of application for the California State University, will earn automatic admission to CSU Fullerton!

“I am grateful that CSUF has partnered with my Young Senators to ensure that every student does have an option for college,” said Senator Correa. “I believe that as long as we continue to educate our children by encouraging them to complete high school and go to college, they will succeed.”

The deadline to apply is September 28, 2012. For a Young Senators Program Application or for more information, please contact Senator Lou Correa’s District Office at (714) 558-4400.

Senator Lou Correa represents the 34th Senate District that includes the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton, and Westminster.
