Correa and Sanchez to host a G.I. Bill Veteran Benefits Fourm on 9/27

 VETERANS BENEFITS G.I. BILL FORUM TO BE HELD BY SENATOR LOU CORREA AND CONGRESSWOMAN LORETTA SANCHEZ 

(Santa Ana, CA) – In response to federal changes in the veterans benefit program known as the Post-9/11 Bill and the Montgomery G.I. Bill, Senator Lou Correa, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and the Veterans Upward Bound Program at Santa Ana College are collaborating to hold a:

G.I. Bill Forum on September 27th, 2013, from 4 to 6 pm

Santa Ana College’s Cesar Chavez Building (A-210)

Located at 1530 W. 17th St., Santa Ana, CA 92706

“With the recent changes to benefits available to our veterans including those supplemented by our state it is important that we keep our men and women who have served our county informed of the changes in their existing or new qualifying veteran program benefits” said, Senator Lou Correa.

The G.I. Bill forum is being held with a panel discussion to answer question on the changes of the Post-9/11 Bill and the Montgomery G.I. Bill Benefit Program for Veterans. The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill provide financial support for higher education and housing to individuals who serve at least 90 days of service or discharges with a service connected disability. Program benefits for those who qualify do not include individuals who did not receive an honorable discharge.

“Ensuring our veterans has access to education and transitional services have always been a priority in my legislative career. However with the progress being made with the VA Backlog and access to the GI Bill and tuition assistance at an all-time high, now is the time to focus on informing and updating our veterans about their benefits to keep them sustained and competitive in our recovering economy” said, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.
