The Santa Ana Communication Linkage Forum (Com Link) will be tackling a sticky issue – “Legalization of Medical Marijuana – Pros and Cons” at their next meeting, on Thursday, August 25, at 6:30 pm, at the Santa Ana Police Department’s Community Room, located at 60 Civic Center Plaza.
It sounds like the Com Link folks don’t know about Prop. 215.
Proposition 215, the California Compassionate Use Act, was enacted by the voters and took effect on Nov. 6, 1996 as California Health & Safety Code 11362.5. The law makes it legal for patients and their designated primary caregivers to possess and cultivate marijuana for their personal medical use given the recommendation or approval of a California-licensed physician. (CA NORML)
While tbe City of Santa Ana has officially banned medical marijuana dispensaries, the City of Garden Grove became “the second city in Orange County to pass regulations allowing medical marijuana dispensaries to legally operate as opposed to moratoriums, bans or fighting collectives in court,” this month, according to the Garden Grove Journal.
Here is the Com Link Meeting Agenda:
BTW, from what I understand the City of Santa Ana spends well over six figures each year, on Com Link and the Neighborhood Associations. Keep that in mind as our City Council struggles with our budget deficit.
