Cleanup process begins at the Tustin Hangar fire

The City of Tustin received approval from South Coast AQMD for a certified abatement company to immediately begin the remediation process of collecting potential contaminated materials from the Tustin Hangar fire within the public right-of-way affected areas.

Beginning on Sunday morning at approximately 8 am, November 12th, a team of trained, certified asbestos professionals from ATI Restoration, wearing white Tyvek suits and respirators started working in the area north of the hangar.

There will likely be temporary road closures throughout the area while the clean-up process occurs. Please refrain from interacting with the workers while they are operating in the area. The City of Tustin will continue to post updates online as the progress continues.

While the operation on November 12th will be the first phase of a multipronged approach starting in the public rights-of-way, further phases will include parks, schools, and residences.

Community members are encouraged to call (714) 937-0750 and report any suspected contaminated materials to the City of Tustin’s contracted certified asbestos consultant, Envirocheck, that they observe within the City of Tustin. Envirocheck will conduct an inspection and assessment for further action for removal by the certified asbestos professional company, ATI Restoration.

In related news the City of Tustin has launched a North Hangar Fire Resource Page.
