Celebrate las Fiestas de Independencia in Santa Ana on Sep. 12 & 13

Celebrate las Fiestas de Independencia (including Mexican Independence Day) on September 12 & 13, on 4th Street in downtown Santa Ana.  The event will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the 12th and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 13th.

Free entrance to two days of live music & entertainment, carnival rides & games, authentic food & dozens of vendors.

The O.C. Register reports that:

Guanajuato Governor Juan Manuel Oliva Ramírez speaks at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Fourth and Sycamore streets; traditional “grito” (cry for independence) takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the stage at Mortimer and Fourth streets; parade starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at 15th and Main streets.

On the lighter side, this year’s musical headliners include Los Yonic’s, La Migra, and Maria Elena Leal-Beltran, daughter of the late legendary “ranchera” singer Lola Beltran, who will perform a tribute to her mother.

Other highlights include: the traditional “grito” (cry for independence), which will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Mortimer and Fourth streets; and a parade, sponsored by the Mexican Consulate, which starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at 15th and Main streets.
