Career College of California in Santa Ana closed down today

The Career College of California (CCC), located in Santa Ana, shuttered their doors today. No explanation has been offered but several of their students contacted us today with the bad news. We also heard from a career advisor at CCC, who confirmed the closure.

Ironically CCC recently published an article about “Steps to Take if Your School is Closing.” Now their own students should take a look at CCC’s recommendations:

Step 1: Gather ALL Necessary Paperwork

You will want to ensure you have copies of your enrollment agreement, all of your academic transcripts and your student financial records. These should be provided to you through your school. Many campuses are providing information seminars on how to proceed (Note that CCC gave no notice to their students – they just shut their doors). Be SURE to attend these dates, as it will be much more difficult to obtain any documentation once your school has closed entirely.

Step 2: Transfer Your Credits

Find a similar program that will allow you the option of transferring in credits so that you will be able to complete your education.

(We recommend finishing your general education at Santa Ana College. And by the 2017-1028 academic year they will also be offering a four year degree in Occupational Studies).

Step 3: Loan Forgiveness/Student Tuition Recovery Fund

Do not assume that, because your school has closed, your loans will be automatically forgiven. You MUST complete the necessary loan forgiveness application in order to begin this process. You may also be eligible for the Student Tuition Recovery Fund. You can learn more about the financial processes here.
