SACRAMENTO, CA – California’s largest organization, committed to protecting and advocating for the right’ of victims of crime, has recognized Orange County’s own State Senator Lou Correa as their Legislator of the Year.

The organization; Crime Victims United of California (CVUC), presented Senator Correa with their formal recognition in a ceremony during their annual March on the Capitol which was held on the west steps of the state’s Capitol.

Senator Lou Correa has developed a strong record in support of the victims of crime and supports measures to keep communities safe for our families.

Throughout his legislative career, Senator Lou Correa has consistently been one of the strongest supporters for protecting victims and working to reduce crime.

CVUC Chair, Harriet Salarno praised Senator Correa’s support in stating that “You have been a champion and we truly appreciate not only your work on our behalf, but the willingness to maintain a dialogue on these vital issues.”

In accepting the honor, Senator Correa stated that; “One victim is one too many. I accept this award as sign of our commitment to keep public safety as government’s top priority. I also accept this award on behalf of all those who protect our communities, and for those who volunteer their efforts everyday for safer neighborhoods.” The Senator went on to thank the members of CVUC and to offer his commitment to continue to oppose further prisoner early releases in stating that; “You cannot equate early release to reform. I am concerned about the welfare of our families and our children.”

The Crime Victims United of California organization is actively engaged in the state’s legislative process — sponsoring and supporting bills that enhance victims’ rights, promote public safety and hold criminals accountable for their actions; and, opposing bills that roll back these goals.

Senator Lou Correa represents the 34th District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster. ####
