NEWS ADVISORY: Bike Rally Set to Support Bike Month
WHAT: Officials from the Orange County Transportation Authority will lead a four-mile bike ride with bike enthusiasts from the Orange Metrolink Station to OCTA headquarters in Orange to celebrate May as Bike Month.
Following the ride, OCTA Chairman Shawn Nelson will discuss regional bikeways planning in Orange County. Those who participate in the ride will be entered into a drawing to win prizes such as a $50 gift card to P.F. Chang’s, a bike helmet and a one-hour free rental from Pedego.
WHEN: Thursday, May 15
Riders leave the Orange Metrolink Station at 7:45 a.m. and are expected to arrive at OCTA headquarters at around 8:20 a.m.
WHERE: Ride begins at the Orange Metrolink Station, 194 N. Atchison St. in Orange
Ride ends at OCTA headquarters, 550 S. Main St. in Orange
Photo and video opportunities will be available from OCTA headquarters as riders approach.

WHY: May is Bike Month. The rally is one of several local events planned throughout the month to promote cycling as a clean and healthy way to commute in Orange County. More than 1,000 miles of bikeways exist in Orange County with many more miles planned. Recently, OCTA launched the BikeShare pilot program in Fullerton and created a safety campaign to remind drivers and cyclists that safety on the road is everybody’s responsibility.
