Last night, a police officer stopped a car for a vehicle code violation near Jamboree and Main St., according to the Irvine Police Department.
The police officer determined the man had an active warrant for his arrest for murder.
Additional officers rapidly responded and took Carlos Salazar Jr., 44, of Compton, into custody.
During an inventory search of his vehicle, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun.
Salazar was booked at Orange County Jail for his warrant and carrying a concealed gun.

A great example of why we should empower police departments to stop vehicles for minor infractions. Instead our pro-criminal state legislature and local officials try to take away this authority by decriminalizing offences and making minor vehicle code infractions secondary offences.
