It was another bloody and violent night in Santa Ana this evening as four men were hurt in three separate shootings, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD received a call just before 7 p.m. this evening about shots fired and a possible victim down at the 900 block of South Townsend Street. Sure enough when the police arrived at the scene they found a man who had been shot in his upper torso. The man is now in critical condition at a local hospital.
The South Townsend Street shooting happened right next to Jerome Park in Santa Ana’s Ward 4, which is represented by Councilman David Benavides.
A few minutes later another man was shot – and he showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was described as not life-threatening. The SAPD believe that this man was shot in the same area as the previous victim but they are not yet sure as to the motive in these attacks.
A second shooting took place just before 8 p.m. Two SAPD police officers who were driving north on Durant Street, near 15th St., heard what sounded like numerous shots being fired. They then saw a man running with a gun in his hand, at the intersection. So of course the police officers pursued the man.
The suspect dropped his gun and he tried to hide for a few minutes. However the police officers were eventually able to arrest him. They found he also had a gunshot wound in his upper torso. That man was taken to a local hospital and he is expected to survive.
The police investigators were able to recover a weapon from that scene. They are trying to figure out if this man’s wound might have been self-inflected.
This shooting happened near Willard Intermediate School in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Councilwoman Michele Martinez.
Yet another shooting happened at around 8:47 p.m. at the 1100 block of South Standard Ave., where shots were fired. SAPD police officers who responded to the scene found one man who had been shot in his lower extremities. He is now at a local hospital with what is believed to be a none-life threatening injury.
The police investigators believe that this man might have been a bystander who got caught in a crossfire during a shooting. The police officers found numerous bullet casings at the scene.
This shooting happened in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Councilwoman Michele Martinez.
