Another possible gang-related shooting at McFadden and South Sullivan

A day after an SAPD gang unit got into a shootout with suspects at McFadden and South Sullivan, there was another possible gang-related shooting, not far from the site of yesterday’s police officer-involved shooting, according to the O.C. Register.

A man showed up at a local hospital today at around 4:15 p.m. with what looked like a gunshot wound, according to the SAPD. The man’s exact condition was not revealed.

The SAPD had received calls of shots fired earlier in the day at McFadden Avenue and South Sullivan Street, where so many other gang-related shootings have happened since last year.

On Wednesday, at around 3:30 p.m., SAPD gang officers ran into Carlos Michael Rodriguez, a 30-year-old gangbanger with a long history of criminal acts. This time Rodriguez stupidly fired at a police officer. Fortunately for that officer the bullet only grazed him.

The SAPD detective turned out to be a much better shot than the suspect as Rodriguez was nailed in both his upper and lower torso. Police later found two handguns at the scene.

This has been a particularly bloody week in Santa Ana as on Tuesday, 24-year-old Francisco Sotelo Gonzalez of Santa Ana was shot dead in a drive-by shooting at the 1100 block of South Harmon Street.

Last month a man was found at the 2600 block of West McFadden Avenue with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

The SAPD had no choice but to admit that since January, there have been more than 50 shootings in Santa Ana and 82 assaults with deadly weapons. As one might expect most of those incidents have been gang-related.

You would think, in an election year, that at one point we might hear from our City Council members about the raging gang war in our city. But they have been silent on this issue.
