Anaheim police arrested a teen gangbanger for the fatal shooting of Jesse Barragan

ANAHEIM, Calif. (May 28, 2024) – Anaheim Police Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect for a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, May 24, 2024.

On Friday, May 24, 2024, at 7 p.m., Anaheim Police Dispatch received a report of a shooting on the 900 block of S. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim Police Officers and personnel from Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and located a 38-year-old Anaheim man, Jesse Barragan, unresponsive in a liquor store parking lot.

Barragan was suffering from at least one (1) gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to Officers’ arrival.

Homicide and Gang Investigators worked throughout Memorial Day weekend and identified a 16-year-old male suspect responsible for the shooting.

On Sunday, May 26, Gang Investigators arrested the suspect in the City of Garden Grove without incident.

The suspect was lodged at Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. Because of his age, no additional identifying information will be released.

Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related and are not disclosing any additional details at this time because the investigation is ongoing.
