An unlicensed driver crashed into a home in Orange and was arrested on DUI charges

Lasts night a vehicle collided into two parked cars before crashing into a residence at Collins and Laurel, in Orange, according to the Orange Police Department.

The 20-year-old unlicensed driver was intoxicated and arrested for DUI.

Here is what that driver is now going to be dealing with in the courts, according to the Law Firm of Wallin and Klarich, in Tustin:

Penalties are assessed based on a person’s age, prior conviction status, and the severity of the DUI charge. A standard DUI case will usually incur some combination of community service, mandatory alcohol education, probation, and license suspension. However, depending on prior convictions, the penalty could also involve mandatory jail, large monetary fines, and even the installation of an ignition interlock device to prevent the driver from going behind the wheel while under the influence.

Add to this the hidden penalties of DUI – impound fees, raised insurance costs, points on the driving record, Victim’s Fund charges, employers who are shy of hiring someone with a DUI on their record – and you have a very serious charge. In addition, the system punishes those with extremely high blood alcohol contents (BACs) and minors more severely.
