A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Santa Ana today

A 25-year-old woman died in a fatal traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian today in Santa Ana, according to the SAPD.

The Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a traffic collision at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Birch Street on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 12:57 p.m.

Officers, along with Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), responded to the scene and located a 25-year-old woman lying within the roadway unconscious.

OCFA immediately transported her to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the woman was walking in the east crosswalk of the intersection when the vehicle was driving southbound on Birch St. The vehicle turned eastbound onto MacArthur Blvd. when it struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle, a male adult, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
