A violent mob of over 50 criminals attacked a store clerk at a 7-Eleven store in Anaheim at around 1:30 a.m. at a location at 550 South Knott Ave., near Orange Avenue, according to ABC News, which credited City News Service.
Security video footage shows masked suspects grabbing the door and repeatedly tugging on it until it was flung open. A suspect in a gray hoodie threatened the clerk with what appeared to be a large rock as the clerk was trying to keep it shut with his own strength. The clerk was finally overcome then he was hit with a vicious right hook.
That gave the mob a chance to run into the store where they proceeded to grab armfuls of merchandise before turning and running out of the store.
Anaheim police officers were responding to the same area after getting calls about a street takeover at Knott and Orange Avenues. That street takeover quickly morphed into a full riot leaving the store ransacked the clerk bloody.
The mob of criminals can be seen in the video climbing on the counters, pushing shelves and tossing merchandise.
Some of the thugs even filmed the robbery and assault on their smart phones and laughed at the clerk as he lay bleeding. He ended up with minor injuries including a bloody nose.
The thieves stole cash from the store’s registers as well as an unknown amount of store merchandise. The suspects unwisely posted their video on on Instagram and it is now part of the police investigation.
Such flash-mob style robberies have been occuring over the past few weeks often targeting Southern California 7-Eleven stores.
It is quite possible the flash mob members were from Los Angeles County. If they are eventually caught they will find out the hard way that the OCDA, Todd Spitzer, unlike his counterpart in Los Angeles, actually prosecutes criminals.
If you have any information about these violent criminals please contact the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
