A vehicle crashed into an apartment building after a collision in Costa Mesa

Earlier on Saturday, before 1:30 p.m., a driver in a Honda, going westbound on Center Street, did not yield the right of way to the Mercedes-Benz that was traveling southbound on Placentia Avenue, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The Honda broadsided the Mercedes-Benz, causing it to lose control and crash into the apartment building.

The two involved drivers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

One person in the apartment was injured but was not transported to the hospital by Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue.

The Costa Mesa Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau responded to the scene and shut down all southbound traffic on Placentia Avenue at West 19th Street to handle the collision, which remains under investigation.

  • Guy driving the $100k+ Benz will be fine, so he’ll be well enough to hire a scumbag ambulance chaser lawyer and sue the at-fault in the late model Honda for all he’s worth and make his life as difficult as possible. What a world.

  • Hey everyone! My name is cassandra. That's my apartment unfortunately. It's a studio apartment so they crashed into our sleeping area. My bf was there laying in bed and fortunately he was on the opposite side of the bed so he only got hit with debris.

The apartment owners however have been making it difficult for us. They don't want to house us in their only available apartment which would be a 1bdrm because they want us to pay full price for the 1bdrm (2300 vs 1795) so they rather force us out. I don't understand we've been there almost 3 years and they can just recoup the money lost after they settle with the claim through insurance. They're millionaires but they don't care about the people they rent to.

We only have 2 weeks of a paid hotel (2k which we had to pay upfront) before we're basically on the streets if they don't allow us into the 1bdrm. Westbay Apartments needs to do the right thing.
