A teenager was fatally shot at a park in Anaheim

A young life was lost this Sunday, Nov. 10, when a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot at the parking lot of John Marshall Park, at 2001 West La Palma Avenue, which lies east of the 5 Freeway.

The shooting occurred at around 8 p.m. The teen was shot several times in the chest. He was taken to Anaheim Regional Medical Center by his friends, where he later died, according to the Anaheim Police.

Evidence of the shooting was found in a parking lot inside the park, though it is unknown what events led up to the shooting.

The victim did not have any gang affiliations, according to the police.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

The victim’s name was not released by the police due to his age and the need to notify his family.

John Marshall park covers 15-acres and was opened in 1968. It is named in honor of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall. he was an American statesman, lawyer, and Founding Father who served as the fourth chief justice of the United States from 1801 until his death in 1835. He remains the longest-serving chief justice and fourth-longest serving justice in the history of the U.S. Supreme Court, and he is widely regarded as one of the most influential justices ever to serve. He established the principle of judicial review while avoiding an inter-branch confrontation, Marshall helped implement the principle of separation of powers and cement the position of the American judiciary as an independent and co-equal branch of government.
