A teen in a stolen car caused a fatal car collision in Garden Grove and was arrested

Police officers were paroling in the area of Taft St. and Garden Grove Blvd, when they located an occupied stolen vehicle, on, May 25, at 9:46 p.m., according to the Garden Grove Police Dept.

As they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled southbound and collided with three cars at the intersection of Taft St. and Trask Ave.

The juvenile suspect driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle then fled the scene on foot. The suspect driver was apprehended a short distance later, the second suspect has not been located and remains at large.

Additional responding officers immediately rendered medical aid to the victims, prior to Orange County Fire Authority arrival. Two victims were transported to nearby trauma centers.

One victim remains in critical condition while the other, identified as Kevin Luu (34 years-old, of Garden Grove), was later pronounced deceased.

The juvenile suspect was treated for minor injuries and later booked into Juvenile Hall.

This investigation is on going and will be conducted by California Highway Patrol.

Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the collision.
