How did the Santa Ana Police know about the download? The download was a sting? A citizen has privacy rights and was it a civil violation. Does the Santa Ana Police pick and choose its arrest? Or did a unknown hacker planted the downloads. The court will decide.
They work with a law enforcement organization as per the article that is able to track these downloads.
In a perfect world it would be more productive to bust the creeps who put up the website and made the material available in the first place., but I guess that's not feasible. Is it?
Law enforcement targets them for sure. But catching them is probably not easy.
