A Santa Ana man allegedly ran a red light causing a fatal collision in Tustin

A 25-year-old man from Santa Ana killed a 67-year-old Irvine woman in a traffic collision on Sunday that involved five cars.

The man was apparently speeding in a vehicle that ran a red light, at the time of the collision, which happened at Barranca Parkway and Tustin Ranch Road at around 5:15 p.m.

The suspect was heading westbound on Barranca Parkway traveling at 80 miles per hour when he ran a red light and hit the 67-year-old victim’s vehicle.

The woman was southbound on Tustin Ranch Road and driving through Barranca Parkway, according to the Tustin Police Dept.

Both the victim and the suspect were hospitalized in critical condition however the victim ended up dying from her injuries.

The Tustin Police believe that alcohol and speed were both factors in the crash.
