A motorcyclist was killed in a fatal collision at Bristol St. and Central Ave.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10:58 p.m., the Santa Ana Police Department received multiple calls regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle in the area of S. Bristol Street and W. Central Avenue, according to the SAPD.

Police officers, along with Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), responded to the scene where they located a male adult motorcyclist on the ground with severe injuries. OCFA transported him to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Bristol St. approaching Central Ave. when the vehicle traveling south attempted to make an eastbound turn onto Central Ave. and collided with the motorcyclist. The lone driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation when police arrived.

At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Erik Herrera.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant R. Shin at (714) 245-8294 or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200.
