On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 11:04 p.m., Santa Ana Police officers were on an unrelated call for service at 810 S. Raitt Street when they heard numerous gunshots north of their location.
Officers converged on the area of 100 S. Raitt Street where they located a vehicle occupied by a lone male adult. The male was unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso.
Officers performed life saving efforts on the victim until the arrival of Orange County Fire Authority. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. SAPD Homicide Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the male’s death are currently being investigated. The identity of the male remains unknown pending identification by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives are attempting to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed light on this incident.
