Last week, an Irvine police officer conducted a patrol check at a storage facility near Red Hill and Barranca. The police officer stopped a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and contacted a male driver.
During a consensual search of his car, the officer found a stolen laptop and mail addressed to other people.
The police officer then partnered with detectives and searched the man’s storage unit but found no other stolen property.
The police officers were impressed by how tidy the unit was, making the search much easier. The officers then successfully located ten victims of mail theft and will return the stolen laptop to an Irvine resident.
Travis Joseph Cassaro, 33, of Huntington Beach, was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on possession of stolen property and identity theft charges.
