A man broke into a house with three sleeping women in Westminster and demanded to be fed

On March 20, 2024, at about 5:56 AM, officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 14800 block of Cordoba Place about a male forcing entry into a residence where three adult women were asleep in their bedrooms, according to the Westminster Police Dept.

One of the women alleged she was awakened by loud noises and was confronted by the suspect, Michael Alan Garnett Jr., who had forced entry through a sliding glass door leading into her bedroom.

Another woman was able to escape and ran out of the residence. A third adult woman, who was asleep in a separate bedroom, remained and attempted to speak to Garnett when he allegedly lifted his shirt and brandished a hammer to the women while asking for food.

The women claimed they followed Garnett into the kitchen and offered him something to eat until police arrived.

Garnett sat on the living room couch as he ate a banana and drank from a bottle of whiskey that he found inside the residence. Officers located Garnett inside the residence, taking him into custody without incident. He was later booked into the Orange County Jail for the listed charges.

PD Major Crimes Unit investigation asks anyone with additional information to contact Detective J. Figueroa at 714-548-3783 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCC.
