A gangbanger was arrested in Westminster on weapon and parole violation charges

Yesterday, on 10/25/2024, at approximately 2 p.m., police officers were patrolling in the area of Newland Street and Westminster Boulevard when they contacted a suspect at a nearby business, according to the Westminster Police Department.

The suspect admitted to being on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS)* and was wearing an ankle monitor.

At this time the police officers conducted a search of the subject and a backpack they were wearing.

Upon searching the subject’s backpack a silver Sterling Arms semi automatic handgun, and over 96 rounds of ammunition were located.

The subject was taken into custody. A records check of the subject revealed he was a documented gang member as well.

The subject was ultimately booked at OCJ for multiple felony charges including a no bail PRCS violation, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition to name a few.

* Post-release community supervision is an alternate form of parole where the county manages lower-level felons after release from a California state prison. It is not the same as felony probation, which is part of sentencing and is an alternative to serving time in state prison., according to Esiner Gorin LLP.
