A CHP officer was injured in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver, in Garden Grove

A CHP officer was injured when a suspected DUI driver slammed into the rear of his vehicle on the westbound 22 Freeway in Garden Grove, trapping him inside, according to ONSCENE.TV.

The incident was reported at around 8:45 p.m., according to the OCFA.

The CHP officer had pulled over on the freeway to help a vehicle that was having mechanical problems when the driver of a Chevy Tahoe rear-ended his patrol car and also struck the other vehicle, which was a white Porsche Cayenne.

The CHP officer was stuck in his car after the collision and the responding OCFA firefighters had to use the jaws of life to rescue him from the vehicle. There were also two other injured victims in the other vehicle.

The CHP officer was taken to the UCI Medical Center with unknown injuries. It is unknown if the other two victims were also transported to the hospital or just treated at the scene by paramedics.

There is a video that shows a suspect taking a field sobriety test. That suspect was then handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle.

The CHP has confirmed an arrest but has not detailed the charges.

All lanes of the 22 Freeway in Garden Grove were shut down for about an hour while authorities investigated and cleared the roadway.
