Yesterday, around 6 p.m., police officers responded to a call about an individual stealing a bicycle from a retail store, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
In a stroke of not-so-brilliant luck, the suspect dropped his wallet at the crime scene!
During the investigation, the HBPD’s sharp dispatchers recognized the suspect from a recent traffic stop. With the vehicle description provided by dispatch, officers found the car unoccupied in the parking lot.
Fast-forward a few hours, and the suspect decided to return to his car. The store’s security team promptly notified the police, and the officers quickly responded. Sure enough, the stolen bike was discovered in the trunk, and the suspect was arrested.
The HBPD maintains a strong partnership with local businesses, working hand in hand to help ensure the safety of the community and arrest those who commit crimes in HB.
