There were 18 DUIs reported as well. Car accidents are not reported but you can only imagine how dangerous our roads are with all of these drunk drivers! Do you remember the stink that Councilman David Benavides made about letting bars in town stay open until 4 a.m.? What was he thinking?
There were even two Arson incidents reported. It would appear that January ended on a very bad note in Santa Ana.
Don’t expect to hear any updates about this from our Santa Ana City Council. Even the O.C. Register fails to report most of this crime – much of which is gang-related.
Fortunately several of our Council Members are up for re-election in November, including Roman Reyna, Angie Amezcua and Vince Sarmiento. I can’t imagine any good reason to vote for any of them. We need change in this city, particularly Council Members who will at least acknowledge that our city is in the grip of a very disturbing crime wave.
Our Editor, Art Pedroza, worked at the O.C. Register and the OC Weekly and studied journalism at CSUF and UCI. He has lived in Santa Ana for over 30 years and has served on several city and county commissions. When he is not writing or editing Pedroza specializes in risk control and occupational safety. He also teaches part time at Cerritos College and CSUF. Pedroza has an MBA from Keller University.

Wow, all these abberations and anomalies seem a concerted effort by some to undermine the important Art programs going on in our city. Why focus on the negative, how about a story about young gang members from Chicano's United doing a puppet show or silent play.
We don't need law and order admin, we need to have the police stop enforcing the law completely and deliver food and crayons to the people.
LOL. That's what passes for public policy in our town!
Yea, start with gang injunctions, specifically targeting ONLY documented gang members. Then you will see how crime goes down.
On the flip side you have the police harassing youth in the skate park which is one of the only free recreational activities for youth that keeps our young men getting being involved in Gangs. As they spend this time breaking up and limiting positive recreational activities these youth left in utter frustration and growing hatred toward police become the perfect antagonists in a city out of balance.
Wow
