Anaheim – The 35th Annual Orange County Black History Parade and Cultural Faire will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Downtown Anaheim. The event celebrates African American heritage and Black History Month. The day will be filled with learning and fun for the whole family and is enjoyed by people of all ethnicities in the Southland.
Parade viewers are encouraged to arrive early and bring a portable chair to get a prime viewing spot. The parade steps off at 10: 00 AM on Anaheim Boulevard at Lincoln Avenue, continues south past Anaheim City Hall and ends at Santa Ana Street.
GRAND MARSHAL: Senator Isadore Hall, III will lead the parade. Sen. Hall represents the 35th State Senate District. Senator Hall has been named Chairman of the Senate Governmental Organization Committee and Vice Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus.
HONORARY GRAND MARSHAL: Princess Tiana will journey from the Disneyland Resort to help us celebrate in Downtown Anaheim. Princess Tiana is the first African-American Disney princess. She captured hearts around the world in The Princess and the Frog.
PARADE ANNOUNCERS: Tyrone DuBose the international radio host of Timeless Traxx, the Countdown of the top R and B songs over the last 6 decades www.timelesstraxx.com. Tyrone is also the voice of “Unsung” on TVOne. Adai Lamar is LA’s Voice for the Steve Harvey Morning Show! on Radio Free 102.3 KJLH from 6 – 10 am and is the host of “Free Talk” on Saturday mornings.
CELEBRITY GUESTS: The parade will include many celebrities and local heroes including, Ernest Thomas, TV and Broadway actor best known for his characters Mr. Omar on Everyone Hates Chris and Raj on What’s Happen-ing. Willie Raof, NFL Hall of Famer; Soul Train Dancers; Darmirra Brunson Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor; Patrick Faucette Tyler Perry’s The Have and the Have Nots; Lewis Saunders CHiPs, and Danger Man – “Urban Superhero”
CULTURAL FAIRE: The event continues at the cultural faire on Center Street Promenade featuring food ven-dors, retail and information booths, a Black History Exhibit, a Youth Village,which will include a Youth Art Con-test and Anaheim Public Library Bookmobile, and Health Village, offering free health screening and important helath related information The faire promises a day of delicious food and good fun.
The entertaintment will feature gospel, soul, jazz, R&B, reggae and hip-hop from artists Kelin Covington, Community Temple Mass Choir & Gerald Williams, Mrs Rena, Creative Identity, Conspire, Eddie Clark, Holly D, Beverly Edwards, Special Blend, RemJ and Company.
Free raffle drawings will be held during the day. Prizes will include such items as tickets to the Muzeo, donated services, and Disneyland Resort Theme Park Tickets. The1-day, 1-park tickets can be used at Celebrate Gospel in-side Disneyland Park. Submit your entry at the Orange County Heritage Booth near the entertainment stage or in the Youth or Health Villages during the day. A special coupon can be found in the souvenir booklet, as well.
