The OC Sheriff South Narcotics Team made a significant seizure of narcotics after an extensive investigation into a suspect believed to be involved in the distribution of large amounts of narcotics.
Investigators recently executed search warrants at two locations in North Orange County that resulted in the seizure of two kilograms of fentanyl powder, 10 pounds of methamphetamine, and 15,000 multi-colored fentanyl pills – commonly known as “rainbow fentanyl.”
This seizure marks the first time OC Sheriff investigators have encountered rainbow fentanyl in our jurisdiction.
The US Drug Enforcement Agency has warned rainbow fentanyl appears to be a method used by the drug cartels to enhance the appeal of fentanyl.
Fentanyl is a deadly opioid that is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine.
The OC Sheriff encourages the community to educate themselves and others on the danger of taking any unknown pills or illicit substances. For drug education and prevention resources visit ocsheriff.gov/community/above-influence.
